My Light, My Plight | A Poem by Halkren

Every day
Every night
I stare into the darkness with my light

My light is dim and can't see to far ahead
So I just lie here in my bed
Listening to all the sounds rushing through my head

I can never find the peace I so need
Wishing there was something that I could see
I'm blinded by my own light
Causing me to feel it as my plight

The darkness isn't something you can see
The darkness is so much more for me
This darkness that surrounds my mind

Waiting and waiting for me to slip away
Not knowing where to stay
I call out but nothing is spoken

For now, I can only feel broken
