Sleep | A Poem by Krushna Chandra Mishra

Together to sleep
on a cold evening
into the night with
one holding fast
so that there is
no space for the cold
to creep in blasting the
blanket that saves
when the cracked window
lets in everything
from the dust and the smoke
or the fog or the light
with bouts of cold blizzard
is an interesting idea
to be saved from
being bitten by the
cold that is mad when
prevented from having
its freedom fully
played out to take away
sleep and break silence of sorts.

Dr. Krushna Chandra Mishra is presently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of  English of  Rajiv Gandhi University.
