7 Reasons Why It's OK And Great To Be Different

What would the world be like if we all thought the same way and wanted the same thing?

When you’re different, sometimes you don’t see the millions of people who accept you for what you are. All you notice is the person who doesn’t. —Jodi Picoult

It can be uncomfortable when you want to do the things you think you should be doing, what you feel a passion for and because most people can't see what you see and can't figure out what you are up to, they tend to think you are possessed by a demon.

You may discover you think, dream and wants different things from most  people around. But does that makes you a 'bad egg'?

Maybe people don't yet see the value in what do, who knows who you may eventually end up as.

Here are 7 reasons why it's OK to be different.

1. There's no such thing as normal.

Yes, there's no such thing as normal. People achieve similar results with very disparate methods.

Normal means different things to different people. Several factors makes us different and so we  are different because we can't all be the same.

2. Everything original seems weird at first.

What would you say about inventions like the telephone , television? You may say they are  life changing, but these same inventions were initially laughed out.

What is weird might not be understood today, but by tomorrow it could be the new norm.

3. It's the seed of greatness

Every creative breakthrough -- artistic, musical, scientific, etc. -- is as a result of doing things differently from the norms.

Every successful idea in this world- be it a theory, a formula, a blueprint, an idea- has always been original, individual and new.

4. You inspire the world

You  may look insane to those around you but there are many more people you inspire or will inspire.

Some people may be confused or uncomfortable with you but you inspire many more. It's easy to do what everyone is doing, and so the need for authenticity is in high demand. Deep down everyone wants to be more real, but we are all afraid to be the first one. When you start living as your true self, weirdness and all, you give permission to those around you to do the same.

5. It's OK to want the things you want.

Just as Cynthia Kersey said " Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you"

You don't have to be and do what others wants you to do. Define yourself and how you want others to see you.  when you take ownership of your actions, and ignore the fear of criticism, the world will, to the degree of your conviction, adapt to your perception of yourself.

6. Life is far more interesting

How would your life be like if you could only listen to the same song from year to year, eat the same food everyday and could only hang out in the same clothe year in and year out?

No one wants a brainstorming session with all the same kind of ideas coming from every direction. No one wants a writer writing books exactly like previous best sellers.

The world wants to be inspired by original ideas ,stories and people.

7.You will have fewer regrets

When you make decisions based on you want, chances are that they will be the ones you least regret. This is because when you look back, even at an attempt that failed miserably or a venture that went wrong, you will know that you did all you could and will never be faced with the nagging question of ‘what if?’ gnawing away at your soul. Knowing that you have lived life the way you wanted to, being true to your heart is the best antidote to any possible self pity or regret that might rear its ugly head at some point.
