Cheater | A Poem by Emma Rose

I knew I should have listened to what they said,
I should have believed them when they told me there was another in your bed,
When I found out it felt like all of me was dead,
All these depressing, worthless thoughts spinning 'round my head.
And to think you were the one I believed that I would wed.
But you decided to be a player, to lie and cheat instead,
To get rid of the girl who would do anything you wanted.
You told me lies,
You cut the ties,
Never compromise, always telling lies,
You always did hide behind your signature highs.
But I do have to admit, you have a great disguise,
Always running to your labyrinth to hide,
That damned mask of yours hiding all of your lies.
But perhaps it is my fault for getting lost in your eyes,
Those soulless eyes masking your disguise,
Those stupid eyes getting me lost in the skies,
Your eyes, those damned eyes,
Were the cause of my ultimate demise.
